Reports To: ADF Director and ADF Co-Director
Job Summary
The Marketing and Communications office generates and promotes public awareness and interest in the ADF and all of its programs and performances. It secures all forms of media placements and reviews (i.e. print, radio, television, internet, etc.) on local and national levels. It maintains effective communications with the general public and the dance community throughout North Carolina and the nation to increase ticket sales and to enhance the image of the ADF. It provides promotional materials and information to current and lapsed subscribers, single ticket buyers, and potential ticket buyers.
Qualifications
Strong verbal and written communication skills. Strategic and creative thinking. Minimum of 3 to 5 years related experience in the arts. Strong interest in and knowledge of modern dance preferred.
Positions Supervised: Marketing and Communications Associate, Graphics/Web Designer, and Seasonal Photographer.
Duties include (but are not limited to) the following:
•Developing an annual promotional plan, calendar, and strategy in coordination with ADF Directors.
•Communicating with organizations like the Chamber of Commerce and Convention and Visitors Bureau, local universities, radio and television stations, and other marketing contacts.
•Writing press releases, public service announcements, press advisories, opening night invitations, and text for all ADF publications, eblasts, and web pages.
•Supervising the production of all ADF publications and print material (i.e., performance brochures, annual reports, storefront posters and postcards, subscription and single ticket campaigns, etc.).
•Pitching stories to the media, providing hospitality to visiting reporters, creating and maintaining press kits, tracking all media coverage, and arranging photo calls and interviews.
•Supervision of all aspects of the Annual Critics Conference.
•Coordinating set up of displays in theaters for each performing company.
•Working closely with the box office and supervising the preparation of all ticket reports.
•Supervising playbill advertising, sales of ADF merchandise, addition of ticket buyers to the ADF database, and the press database.
Salary is commensurate with experience.
